I will be out of the classroom until the beginning of March for good reason. Baby Charlie is here! Charles Timothy Smith was born on December 17th. A small little pip squeak at 5 lbs, 12 oz, he was a late arrival, but he is strong and doing great! We are so in love with him! He is our Christmas baby!

Rotoscoping on ipads, 7th grade
These awesome rotoscoped animations were made entirely on IPads.
7th graders worked in groups creating a very short action movie.
Then, Mrs. Malone-Smith broke down the videos into jpegs on her computer before sending them back to us using the app dropbox. We used the photoshop touch app on the iPads to draw over our jpeg stills using layers in the photoshop touch.
The finished layers were put into IMovie where the animations were created.
Great job 7th graders!
Thanks to Mrs. Fuglestad

Alter(ed) Ego, 6th Grade
In 6th grade, we talked about how colors can evoke emotions. For example, red can mean love or anger. The students took self portraits with cameras, and tried to match their emotions to the colored backgrounds. Then, they enhanced their photos even more using www.ribbet.com and Photoshop. We also made a merge photo that had the 2 photos in one. This photo acted as the contrast between the two personalities. This merge photo is the photo in the shadow box that you can see straight-on. The other two alter egos, each can be seen from either side. So, there are three different images that appear when viewed from three angles.

Glass Fused Jewelry, 8th Grade
Students had to create 2 pieces of jewelry. One with pattern with rhythm and one with symmetrical balance. They got to either melt the glass at a full fuse setting for a smooth surface, or a tack setting for a texture surface.
