Artist in the Classroom! Diego Gutierrez

Local architect Diego Gutierrez stopped by the 6th and 7th grade art class and gave us a talk on architecture. He talked about the purpose of buildings, and the art of design. He talked about what architects do for a living, and brought in some books and samples to look at. Mr. Gutierrez is teaching a Junior Architect Design workshop at Berkshire South during our spring break coming up.

Pop Art and Historical Figure Pedistals, 5th grade

Nancy Walkup who is the editor of School Arts Magazine, as well as an elementary art teacher in Texas came up with this awesome lesson plan which my students loved! The figures had to be on either Ionic or Doric columns. The 5th grade students got so engaged in this project and did a super job!
