are those paint pens, acrylics or sharpies?

They are colored pencils. They are crayola fx pencils which I can't find any more as they have be discontinued. They are non-water soluble. That is the key, as we are working with boiling water. Can't even find the pencils on ebay :(

darn...I'll have to try it with sharpies and see if it works...I know some people slump the records over glass bowls in the oven. You could use water soluble materials then...

What was your guidelines for the students? Could they choose anything they wanted to put on the record? Also, are their directions on the web how to form them?

The students had to have line designs, pattern, movement/rhythm and contrast as far as guidelines. To bend them, we used boiling water and a glass cylinder so the records would be slumped. Certain vinyl will not slump, may only bend a little if it's a thicker record. Very thin records slump with 2 tea kettles of boiling water.
