8th grade students created pendants and magnets with glass. The students understood how to make functional art glass based on Pattern with Rhythm and Balance with Symmetry.
Thanks Marcia! We purchased a bead annealer which had settings for glass fusing, slumping, and PMC programed right in. Very easy that way. The students put the pieces together with white glue, as it burns away in the annealer. This book was helpful: http://www.alpineglass.com/shop/detail/6498 There are also great websites out there as well.
Thanks Lauren & Barbara! Yes, you can do this in a ceramic kiln, but you have to program it the right way. This is the one I used: http://jenkenkilns.com/af3pbeadannealer.aspx
Gorgeous! I want to try this at my school too! Any tips for firing? I need to look this up.
